Why does text copied from PDFs have broken lines?
PDFs store text based on visual position on the page, not as flowing paragraphs. When you copy text from a PDF, each visual line becomes a separate line with a hard line break at the end. This tool fixes that by joining lines back together.
Will it remove paragraph breaks too?
It depends on the mode you choose. Space Join and Direct Join remove all line breaks. Smart Join preserves paragraph breaks (double line breaks) while removing single line breaks within paragraphs.
What is the difference between a line break and a paragraph break?
A line break is a single newline that starts a new line. A paragraph break is typically two consecutive newlines that create a visible gap between paragraphs. Smart Join mode can distinguish between the two.
Does it work with HTML line breaks?
This tool works with plain text line breaks (newline characters). If your text contains HTML <br> tags, use the Strip HTML Tags tool first to convert them to plain text line breaks.
Can I use it on text from emails?
Yes. Email clients often wrap long lines at 72 or 80 characters, creating unwanted line breaks in the middle of sentences. Paste the email text here and use Space Join or Smart Join to restore flowing text.
